Whether drawing portraiture, landscape, or equine art, I work to employ hyper enhanced detail both physically and emotionally. I enjoy playing with intriguing lighting and composition to draw my audience in, and make it a point to follow up with deep emotion and/or meaning. Therefore, although my art is the result of long hours of micromanaging the details, I spend an equal amount of time building a structure to the art away from the techniques and physical work - a sense of emotional dimension.
I use charcoal and graphite as my primary materials simply because it's what I've been doing the longest.
I've been drawing since a toddler. I love oil painting and that might show up in my portfolio in the future. However, I have a sense of familiarity with a pencil that I have yet to build with a brush.
The style of art I work in is known as hyperrealism or photorealism. Unlike most traditional artists, I want my work to look exactly like the reference photo, which adds an extra element of difficulty when at the photo shoots. I use a grid technique when drawing, and I draw square by square. I use long spans of very tedious work and time to perfect every aspect of my art to the best of my ability - emotion, realism, and craftsmanship.
